The City of Sarasota’s Fleet Services division, part of the Public Works Department, has earned the Blue Seal of Excellence from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). This recognition highlights the division’s high standards in vehicle maintenance and technician certification.
According to the City of Sarasota, to receive the Blue Seal, at least 75% of a shop’s technicians must be ASE certified. Sarasota’s Fleet Services meets this standard, including four ASE Master Certified technicians. The team maintains a fleet of 850 vehicles, including garbage trucks, trailers, and utility trucks that support essential city services.
The team brings over 200 years of combined experience. Fleet Manager Ken Lange noted that these certified technicians are key to the department’s operations and service to the community.
Nationwide, ASE supports a network of around 250,000 certified professionals across service shops, schools, and dealerships. Within a 3-mile radius of the city, there are only three other ASE-certified service shops, making this achievement notable for the department. The Blue Seal of Excellence highlights the Fleet Services team’s commitment to maintaining reliable and safe city vehicles.
