
The search continues following a fatal hit and run incident in the heart of Northwest Washington, D.C., where a stolen vehicle collided with a motor driven cycle early Sunday morning. According to a press release by the Metropolitan Police Department, the crash occurred around 3:30 a.m. at the crossing of 7th Street and New York Avenue.
Officers from the First District were dispatched to the scene where they found the moped operator injured following the collision with a White 2017 Infiniti QX60 that was later identified as stolen; the vehicle's occupants had fled the scene on foot, in a haste that speaks to the urgent indifference that leaves shattered lives in wake. Emergency medical responders transported the victim, who was unconscious at the time of their arrival, to a local hospital for treatment.
The subsequent day, despite intensive medical efforts, the moped operator succumbed to their injuries. The decedent was identified as 24-year-old Jose Carlos Vilchez Bobbio from Germantown, Maryland.
Authorities are actively encouraging any individuals with information to come forward, the MPD has offered a reward of up to $1,000 for tips that could lead to the arrest and indictment of those involved.
