Authorities in Harris County are in the midst of a search for the parents of a young girl who unexpectedly entered a man's home in the Eagle Springs neighborhood. As reported by KHOU 11, the girl, thought to be between 3 and 4 years old, was discovered wearing only a black shirt, without pants or shoes, on Blackstone River Drive near West Lake Houston Parkway.
Ongoing efforts to locate the child's family were initiated after the homeowner, upon finding the girl in his residence, contacted authorities and indicated he didn’t recognize the child and wasn't aware of her belonging to any nearby residents, the incident that sparked conversations about community safety and the vulnerability of children; it's incidents like these that thrust us face-to-face with the responsibilities we share as guardians of the young and innocent. FOX 26 Houston obtained a statement from Constable Mark Herman noting the deputies' response to the call in the 12600 block of Blackstone River Drive concerning the lost child.
The identity of the young girl has yet to be disclosed as the search continues, with neither KHOU 11 nor FOX 26 Houston able to provide additional details as the investigation is underway. Both precinct deputies and Humble ISD police officers are working collaboratively on the case, trying to establish connections that might point them in the direction of the girl's family.
Community members are asked to share any information that could help reunite the child with her parents. The constable’s office says her safety is the top priority, and they are doing everything they can to protect her. Anyone with information should contact the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office.
