After a tense overnight standoff that lasted eight hours in Seattle's Chinatown-International District, police have taken a man and a woman into custody. The sequence of events began last Saturday, when a food delivery driver’s vehicle was shot at, as per the Seattle Police Department's statement provided on their blog.

The incident, which took place around 11:50 p.m. on the 400 block of 8th Avenue South, luckily resulted in no injuries, however, the gunfire caused damage to the victim's car. The male suspect allegedly connected to the shooting escaped to a nearby apartment at the 900 block of South Jackson Street, where he was later apprehended by authorities. Officers from multiple units, including the Hostage Negotiation Team, Patrol, K9, and both the SPD and Bellevue Police Department’s SWAT teams, were called in to secure the area and engage in the standoff with the suspect.

A search warrant for the location was sought and approved by a judge, which finally led to the arrest of the individuals. The 41-year-old man was detained on suspicion of Assault, while the 34-year-old woman was apprehended on outstanding Forgery and Organized Retail Theft warrants. According to SPD's blotter, two firearms believed to be used in the shooting were also recovered from the scene.

Detectives from the Gun Violence Reduction Unit took over the subsequent investigation process. Following the standoff, both suspects were booked into King County Jail without further incident.
