
Memphis Police Department confirmed the discovery of a man's body in McKellar Lake in Southwest Memphis yesterday, initiating an inquiry to uncover the circumstances surrounding this second such event in the span of a week. A call about a suspicious person at approximately 3:50 p.m. brought officers to the 2400 block of Pier Street, where they found the deceased individual, Action News 5 reported.
Last Thursday, authorities made another disturbing discovery in the same vicinity, where 62-year-old RC Alexander's body was recovered, Local Memphis stated; Alexander was initially located by his girlfriend, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds before his body was transported and disposed of in the lake, according to details outlined in an affidavit.
The identity and the cause of death of the newly discovered man remain unknown, and as of now the Memphis Police Department has not found any evidence that suggests a connection between the two cases, maintaining that the investigation is still ongoing, as per Action News 5.
In a related case, a man named Jimmy Fulilove has been charged with first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse after allegedly admitting to police that he shot RC Alexander multiple times and subsequently dumped his body in McKellar Lake, FOX13 Memphis disclosed.
