A vacant house in the 1300 block of Hays Park Avenue in Kalamazoo caught fire on Tuesday around 5:30 p.m. Firefighters arrived within two minutes and had the fire under control in about 10 minutes. They stayed for several hours to make sure it was fully extinguished. No one was hurt, and nearby homes were not damaged, "police say," according to WZZM13.
Additional coverage from WOODTV showed footage of the intense smoke and firefighters using ladders to reach the flaming structure. The previous fire at this address occurred in June 2024, and as of yet, the cause of the recent fire remains under investigation.
After the fire was under control, crews stayed for about three hours to put out hot spots in the attic and upper floor and to make sure the area was safe, "KDPS said." Authorities are asking the public for information about the fire.
