
A shooting incident near a Southwest Portland preschool this afternoon involved a security guard, according to the Portland Police Bureau, as officers rushed to the scene around 11:50 AM and found one adult injured in a parking lot close to the location at 6600 SW Capitol Hwy, KOIN reports.
Although details remain sparse, authorities reassured worried parents and community members that no children were harmed during the event and that no suspects are being sought, implying there is no immediate threat to public safety however, the police have yet to clarify the circumstances that led to the shooting which remains under investigation at this hour, KPTV informed the public.
As the police carried out the necessary steps in their investigation, they closed Southwest Vermont Street between Southwest Capitol Highway and Southwest 24th Avenue for an undefined period, potentially causing delays in the area. They are in the process of contacting parents and guardians about the incident.
