
A recent shooting incident in Shelby County has escalated to a homicide investigation after the victim, Scharles Brown, succumbed to his injuries, as confirmed by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO). The 41-year-old victim was found with multiple gunshot wounds at a Northaven residence on April 20 and was transported to a hospital in critical condition, where he later died last Wednesday, as reported by Action News 5.
Altonious Scott, the 30-year-old male suspect who was arrested at the scene, initially faced a charge of attempted second-degree murder, which, in light of Brown's death, may be subject to revision Scott remains detained, and the SCSO, in conjunction with the District Attorney’s Office, is considering an upgrade of the charges against him, this according to details obtained by WREG.com.
SCSO responded to the incident occurring in the 5200 block of Diamond Cove, where deputies found Brown at the end of a driveway, the shooting reportedly originated from a dispute involving Scott, Brown, and an unidentified third party as detailed by FOX13 Memphis. The nature of the altercation remains unclear.
At present, there are no details available on the potential new charges Scott could face, and the SCSO has not disclosed the identity of the third person involved in the incident. The investigators continue to compile evidence and pursue the course of justice.
