Southbridge, MA streets became the stage of a targeted police operation last Friday, as officers clamped down on a narcotics investigation leading to an arrest and a notable drug seizure. The Southbridge Police Department was assisted by a K9 officer from the Charlton Police Department in raiding an apartment on Mechanic Street in an afternoon crack down that netted over half a kilo of suspected cocaine.
Details gleaned from the Southbridge Police Department's Facebook page confirm that detectives, who held an arrest warrant for Earl Kendricks, intercepted him as he was driving toward his residence. Kendricks, 31, was subsequently informed of an active warrant for his arrest relating to previous narcotic distribution charges.
Once Kendricks was detained, authorities executed the search warrant on his apartment, where they uncovered more than 500 grams of what they suspect to be cocaine, ready for street sale. The haul included distribution paraphernalia such as digital scales and cutting agents, suboxone strips, and a considerable amount of cash purportedly linked to drug trafficking activities within the community.
The Southbridge Police Department's disclosure outlined that Kendricks, from the 168 Mechanic Street address, faces charges of cocaine trafficking in excess of 200 grams and a subsequent offense due to his prior convictions. In an indication of the operation's success, the police also highlighted the role of “Dozer,” the K9 officer from the Charlton Police Department, in discovering the narcotics.
Kendricks was held on a $100,000 cash bail and appeared before Dudley District Court on the Tuesday following his arrest.
