The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office has launched a foundation aimed at supporting those tasked with serving and protecting the community. Named the St. Johns County Sheriff Foundation, Inc., the initiative was announced in a social media post to stand by Sheriff's Office deputies, employees, and their families in times of sudden illness, injury, or loss.
"This Foundation will serve as a 911 financial assistance resource for SJSO employees, both sworn and non-sworn, as well as their families," James Dicks, Board President, proclaimed in a passionate statement that highlights the organization’s goal to provide support within 24 hours of an approved request, ensuring that no one must face hardship alone or endure a long wait for help. The foundation is steered by a Board of Directors, comprising respected community and business leaders with Sheriff Robert Hardwick as an advising force to the team, bringing critical insight drawn from his frontline experiences with his deputies and staff, as per the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff's office is looking to the public for support, urging contributions that can lighten the load for a family in mourning or a deputy dealing with a health crisis, emphasizing the importance of unity and mutual assistance in a community where protection comes at a cost, often paid by the courage of the men and women of the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office. "Your support can remind them they are never alone," the post reads, underlining the tangible impact community aid can have.
