Over the weekend, a significant law enforcement operation in LaSalle Park neighborhood led to the seizure of multiple illegal firearms and suspected narcotics. According to a report from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD), a 20-year-old man was apprehended on Saturday night after authorities received tips about an individual carrying weapons.
Responding to the alerts, the Mobile Reserve and SWAT officers, with the assistance of Metro Air Support and SLMPD’s K9 unit, located the young man on the 1100 block of S. 14th Street. Upon discovery, the individual was found in possession of an illegal rifle lacking a serial number, equipped with an automatic sear conversion device—an item that grossly violates current firearm regulations. The man, whose identity has not been disclosed, was also carrying suspected narcotics at the time of his arrest.
Additionally, the SLMPD's diligent search resulted in the recovery of several other firearms within the vicinity. The official statement from the police department expressed a sense of heightened security, indicating that "Our community is safer today because these illegal guns are off the streets! Great team work by everyone involved." The prompt action taken by law enforcement has presumably disrupted potential threats stemming from illegal weapon circulation in the area.
The number and type of additional firearms seized during the operation have not been detailed by officials.
