The National Weather Service in St. Louis forecasts a series of scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms to roll through the region from today through next Tuesday. According to their latest update, today's weather will include isolated showers with calm winds shifting east and a high near 73°F. This evening, St. Louis can expect increased activity, with the chance of precipitation pegged at 60%, including likely showers and the possibility of a thunderstorm between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m.
The unsettled pattern is expected to briefly settle down later in the week, but don’t fully put away those umbrellas just yet. The forecast, obtained from the NWS website, indicates tomorrow’s high will hover around 70°F, with showers and thunderstorms expected mainly after noon. By Friday, the sun is expected to make an appearance, with mostly sunny skies and warmer temperatures gracing the city.
Residents should take note of the potentially hazardous weather outlook for the coming days, including parts of eastern and central Missouri and west central and southwest Illinois. "A few thunderstorms are possible this afternoon through tonight, mainly across parts of central and southeast Missouri as well as southwest Illinois," the NWS advisory states, with continued low chances stretching into early next week.
The weekend promises a respite from the storms, with mostly sunny skies and highs in the low to mid-70s on Saturday and Sunday. However, the weather service warns to not get too comfortable as the new workweek begins. Monday and Tuesday are to both see a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, though Tuesday's high could crest near a balmy 79°F. Spotter activation is not expected at this time, indicating a less severe outlook, but residents should still remain vigilant.
