Good news for St. Louis County residents who've been affected by the recent closures and evacuations. The St. Louis County Sheriff, Gordon Ramsay, has made announcements regarding the reopening of roads and updates on evacuation statuses. According to a social media post from the St. Louis County Sheriff Gordon Ramsay, Brimson Road is now open to through-traffic, and so is the section of Hwy-44 south from Brimson Road.
However, travelers should carefully consider to take extra care when driving, as Hwy-44 north from Brimson Rd remains closed up to Town Line Road. Meanwhile, those from Evacuation Zone 6 are probably feeling a mix of relief and caution. The area's status has been downgraded to “Set,” allowing property owners and residents to return full-time, according to Sheriff Ramsay's post. The "Set" status, however, serves as a reminder to remain vigilant and prepared to move if necessary.
Returning residents and passing drivers, please be aware that although some roads are now accessible, the usual easy flow of traffic is bound to be disrupted. The presence of emergency crews, utility teams, and other vehicles driven by curious locals or distracted drivers should be expected. Everyone is advised to maintain a safe speed and be mindful of the work that is still underway.
Sheriff Gordon Ramsay also emphasized the importance of being aware of the potential hazards in the area, noting that "crews are still working in the area" which necessitates extra caution. It is clear that recovery is in progress, but fully restored normalcy is a goal yet to be thoroughly achieved. As cautioned by Sheriff Ramsay, it is imperative that all individuals returning or passing through these areas do their part to ensure not only their safety, but also that of the crews dedicatedly working to restore order.
