A midday altercation in Pittsburgh's Central Business District escalated into violence yesterday, resulting in a stabbing at the intersection of Market Street and Fort Pitt Boulevard. Just after 1 p.m., officers from Zone 1 of the Pittsburgh Police responded to the reported incident, which interrupted the usual hum of downtown business.
An adult male suspect, during the dispute with another adult male victim, pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed the victim in the forearm, as confirmed by a witness at the scene. The victim, who sustained a stab wound, was then transported to the hospital by Pittsburgh EMS and is reportedly in stable condition, according to a statement obtained by the official City of Pittsburgh's Public Safety Blotter.
The suspect, who also incurred a minor facial abrasion during the altercation, was treated for his injuries and is likewise in stable condition. Officers at the scene managed to take him into custody without further incident, and he is now awaiting charges to be filed.
