
A Statesville police officer sustained minor injuries in a rollover crash while responding to an emergency call, as the vehicle they were driving collided with a Chevrolet Silverado. The incident occurred on Tuesday, shortly after 7 p.m., at the intersection of Turnersburg Highway and Glenway Drive, WBTV reported.
Details provided indicate that the officer was traveling northbound with activated blue lights and siren when the Silverado, moving westbound on Glenway Drive, attempted to cross the highway. The subsequent collision resulted in both vehicles sustaining damage, the Silverado overturned and then struck a Dodge Journey that was stationary at the light, said a piece from QC News. Both the officer and the Silverado's driver were taken to Iredell Memorial Hospital, their injuries were minor.
There were no injuries reported for the Dodge Journey's occupants. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol took over the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. As of now, there has been no mention of any charges being filed in relation to the incident.
The Statesville Police Department's own release states that inquiries regarding the ongoing investigation should be directed to the NC State Highway Patrol, and the type of call the officer was responding to at the time of the crash has not been disclosed.
