Earlier today, a Houston neighborhood was shaken by an incident involving a police chase and a stolen car, that concluded with the vehicle crashing into a home. The chase initiated around 2 a.m. when Houston police officers recognized a vehicle reported stolen, leading to a brief pursuit in northwest Houston, as reported by KHOU.
Attempting to halt the stolen vehicle, officers used an approved stopping technique, which, despite their intentions, resulted in the suspect losing control and crashing into the residence located on Cotton Drive off of Bingle Road. Before the car struck the house, the HPD successfully performed the maneuver, according to information from Click2Houston.
The aftermath of the collision saw the driver of the stolen vehicle attempting to flee on foot, but was shortly detained by law enforcement. As confirmed by Houston Police, a 25-year-old man sleeping in his bed suffered injuries when the car impacted his home. He was promptly transported to a local hospital by the Houston Fire Department for treatment.
While the chase ended abruptly with no other reported injuries, the condition of the man hospitalized was deemed stable. Specific details regarding charges against the suspect have not been disclosed, nor the extent of the victim's injuries clarified, as of the last updates provided by the police.
