A fatal shooting at a west Houston motel has resulted in a suspect being taken into custody after turning himself in to local authorities. According to ABC13, the Houston Police Department was processing the crime scene near the Katy Freeway, where the incident took place. The identity of the male victim has not been released. The suspect, who initially fled on foot, later surrendered to authorities.
The incident, which occurred in a routine setting, is still under investigation with few details confirmed. Lt. Larry Crowson of the Houston Police Department outlined the next steps in the investigation. "Our homicide investigators will talk to him," Crowson told KHOU 11. "They'll look at surveillance video, talk to witnesses, then they'll contact the district attorney, see how they want to proceed." According to statements from the victim’s family, he was not a guest at the motel but was visiting the location. They indicated he had no prior connection to the community staying there.
