Recent developments in a March homicide case have led to the surrender of two individuals who are now facing serious charges. Dontavius Grier, born December 1998, handed himself in to Fulton County Jail on Monday, and has been charged with Tampering with Evidence. The arrest follows that of Robert Julian, born December 1991, who surrendered days earlier, last Friday, with charges including Violation of the Georgia Control Substance Act and Murder, the Atlanta Police Department reports.
The arrests stem from an incident that took place on March 2, where Atlanta Police responded to reports of gunfire at 2001 Sylvan Rd. SW late in the evening, around 11:43 p.m. On arrival, they discovered two victims with gunshot wounds. Tragically, a 26-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene, and another 33-year-old male was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
In the wake of the shooting, investigators with the Homicide Unit were brought in to unravel the sequence of events that led to the violence. According to the Atlanta Police Department, "All arrests and photos are public information. An arrest does not mean that the individual has been or will be convicted of the crime. Individuals on this press release/post/video are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law."
The investigation is ongoing, and as such, details remain limited, the police department maintains that they are dedicated to transparency and keeping the public informed, as developments occur.
