Tacoma residents, it's time to adjust your travel plans. According to the latest from the City of Tacoma, several upcoming street closures are slated to facilitate maintenance work under the Residential Street Restoration Program. The projects, hinging on the whims of our often-fickle weather, are scheduled between May 19 and June 6. Here's what you need to know to navigate these disruptions.
Starting from May 19 to May 23, East I Street will close between East Harrison and East Morton streets. Concurrently, East Morton Street will be out of service between East J and East K streets. A brief respite for residents, however, the works will pause but then pick back up on May 26 through May 30 on East K Street, between East Harrison and East Morton streets.
The final round of closures is confirmed for June 2-6. If you frequent East I Street, take note: the stretch between East 68th and East 70th streets will be closed. Additionally, East K Street will shut down from East 68th Street to the alley south. These disruptions, albeit temporary, are a small price for the rehabilitation of our thoroughfares.
