Tacoma's City Council has officially green-lit Mayor Victoria Woodards to sign off on Hyun Kim's new Interim City Manager contract. In a move yesterday, the council's decision clears the way for Kim to step into the role by the end of June, as reported in the City of Tacoma.
Mayor Woodards expressed her approval, stating, per the City of Tacoma, "I am delighted with the appointment of Mr. Kim as our Interim City Manager," citing his over a year's worth of contributions to Tacoma's Executive Leadership Team, and his dedication to the city’s prosperity. Kim's tenure is expected to begin on June 30, 2025, and it will end when a permanent City Manager is appointed or if the council decides otherwise.
In his response to the appointment, Kim acknowledged the significant role and readiness to take it on. He said, as cited by the City of Tacoma, "It is with a profound sense of responsibility and genuine enthusiasm that I embrace this opportunity," as he pointed out the dynamic and complex era the community is going through.
