Drivers who frequent the Schuster Parkway should be prepared for some delays next month. According to information released by the City of Tacoma Public Works Department’s Street Operations Division, maintenance activities are poised to close lanes on both sides of the parkway.
Slated to start on June 9 and continue through June 13, the closures will affect one lane of northbound Schuster Parkway and one lane of southbound Schuster Parkway. With work occurring between South 4th Street and Ruston Way, the scheduled maintenance is for the upkeep of the parkway’s landscaping. City of Tacoma details that these closures will take place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
The planned work is, however, dependent on the collaboration of the weather – a variable known for its fickle nature. Continued updates will be provided, especially if these plans change due to unforeseeable conditions, on notice boards near the affected sections. With the knowledge of past projects that have gone awry due to the whims of the weather, drivers should keep this possibility in mind.
Motorists who plan their commutes through this area are reminded to use caution, as one can expect to encounter delays. Navigating road work and maintenance is a shared endeavor, one that often tests the patience of daily travel. Nonetheless, awareness and preparedness can go a long way during these temporary inconveniences, and the City of Tacoma emphasizes this in its advisories.
