The City of Tacoma is garnering plaudits for its innovative Home in Tacoma project, earning the Jurisdictional Outreach Award from the Washington Association of Building Officials (WABO). As reported by the City of Tacoma, this recognition, not to be understated, is given to Washington state jurisdictions that have excelled in community engagement, focusing on raising awareness about building codes and safety.
As noted in a statement by the City of Tacoma, the award-winning Home in Tacoma initiative has introduced a sweeping change in zoning regulations intended to enrich the city with more diverse, affordable, and indeed, sustainable housing options, which came into force on February 1.
Aspects of the Home in Tacoma project have been met with public curiosity, prompting the city to direct inquiries to Alyssa Torrez in the City's Planning & Development Services Department, according to the City of Tacoma. Torrez can be reached at [email protected] or (253) 878-3767 for questions involving the new housing initiative.
