To support equal opportunity for businesses owned by minorities, women, and socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, the City of Tacoma is collaborating with the Washington State Office of Minority and Women's Business Enterprises (OMWBE) for an informative workshop. Slated for May 20th, this workshop, named "Certification 201," aims to guide participants through the OMWBE certification process, as per the city's announcement.
The City of Tacoma’s Equity in Contracting (EIC) Program is at the forefront of this initiative. It encourages prospective participants to engage in a hybrid experience that includes in-person and virtual attendance options, with a preference for the former. This workshop follows the “Certification 101” session conducted virtually tomorrow, which set the ground for understanding the certification’s fundamentals; yet attendance of the prior session is not a prerequisite for “Certification 201.”
Facilitating real-time assistance in starting or completing the certification application, "Certification 201" invites attendees to bring their laptops or similar devices and any financial statements and documents necessary for the application process. Information on this and the prior workshop can be found on the City of Tacoma's official website, makeittacoma.com/events.
Interested parties who may require further assistance or alternative formats of information are encouraged to contact Linda Cerna at the City of Tacoma. Ms. Cerna is available via email at [email protected] or by phone at (253) 453-9488 to address any inquiries or concerns regarding the workshop or the certification process itself.
