An 18-year-old has been apprehended by Bexar County authorities linked to a shooting incident that injured a homeowner's daughter. Caden Sylva faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and unauthorized use of a vehicle, as reported by Fox San Antonio. On a late April evening, what began as an alleged vehicle burglary escalated into gunshots fired at a residence on Fairway Bridge, where the homeowner's daughter was wounded in the leg.

According to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, Sylva, along with another individual, are accused of the car break-in attempt that precipitated the events of that night. The homeowner managed to scare off the perpetrators; however, they, allegedly returned soon after, prompting the shooting. The homeowner's quick thinking in applying a tourniquet likely saved his daughter from further harm, "she suffered a gunshot wound to the leg", in a statement obtained by KENS 5.

In the investigation that followed, law enforcement connected Sylva to the crime through fingerprints found on a 2013 Hyundai Elantra, one of two abandoned vehicles discovered post-shooting. Both of these vehicles were reported stolen and found to have shell casings that matched those used in the shooting. Further examination by authorities led to video surveillance footage that placed Sylva at the scene of the crime, with the shooter bearing a striking resemblance to his physical profile.

In interviews with officials, Sylva admitted presence at the initial altercation but he denied being the one who fired the shots. Additionally, "Sylva was interviewed on April 28 and admitted to being at the location of the initial shooting but claimed he was under the influence and denied being the shooter", as stated in the report by KENS 5. Despite his initial denial, his confessions related to the stolen vehicle and involvement in other vehicle break-ins contributed to the charges against him. Sylva was booked into the Bexar County jail, with bond set at $80,000.
