A teenage girl is recovering after being shot during an alleged break-in incident that took place last Friday in Jackson County. The incident, which occurred near Page Avenue and Knapp Street at around 4 p.m., resulted in the 15-year-old being hospitalized with injuries. WILX reported the initial response by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office to the scene of the shooting.
The homeowner involved in the shooting told deputies that he fired his gun as several individuals were allegedly attempting to break into his residence. The injured girl had left the area before authorities arrived, but was later found at Henry Ford Health Jackson, where deputies were present for an unrelated matter. According to information from Fox47News, at least three persons were implicated in the supposed break-in event.
There have been no arrests made in connection with the case thus far. The three individuals associated with the incident were located, detained, and interviewed by deputies. A report is expected to be sent to the Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for consideration of potential criminal charges. The current condition of the young girl is stable, and she is expected to make a recovery from her injuries.
