Attention all nature lovers and wildlife aficionados, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) has something special in store for you. They've announced the first-ever Tennessee Biodiversity Summit, scheduled to take place on October 22, 2025, at Middle Tennessee State University. This day-long event, running from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., promises to be a deep dive into the wealth of natural wonders that the state boasts, from its verdant habitats to the extensive variety of species calling it home.
The summit will feature eight speakers who are set to deliver insights on this year's theme, "Tennessee’s Biodiversity: Past, Present, and Future." The presentations will highlight various wildlife projects currently unfolding across Tennessee. Moreover, participants will be brought up to speed on the State Wildlife Action Plan, which is a blueprint shaped by federal guidelines that aims to halt the decline in biodiversity. According to the official announcement from the TWRA, a broad coalition of partners has been involved in its development, from government bodies to conservation groups and private landowners.
TWRA's Chief of Biodiversity, Josh Campbell, expressed excitement about the event, acknowledging Tennessee's rich wildlife heritage. "We are profoundly fortunate to have such diverse wildlife in Tennessee, and our agency is excited to share the dedication of not only TWRA but all partnering agencies that work for the betterment of species across the state," Josh Campbell stated in the same official announcement.
Attendees will also find a series of educational booths, established with the intent to showcase the collective efforts towards preserving Tennessee's biodiversity and to provide practical resources. The summit's agenda includes a networking session and a silent auction, offering unique opportunities to witness wildlife up-close. Greg A. Vital Center for Natural Resources and Conservation at Cleveland State Community College and Bridgestone Americas, Inc. have been announced as event sponsors.
