From May 24 through May 26, shoppers can snap up select ENERGY STAR-labeled items without the added sales tax expense. To both promote energy efficiency and provide some consumer relief, the Comptroller is urging residents to take full advantage while supporting local businesses during this tax break weekend.
According to the City of Arlington's official announcement, the tax holiday kicks off on the cusp of Memorial Day weekend and runs straight through midnight of the holiday itself. It's an opportunity tailored for those in the market for a new air conditioner priced at $6,000 or less, or perhaps a refrigerator at $2,000 or less. Ceiling fans, light bulbs, clothes washers, dishwashers, and dehumidifiers with the ENERGY STAR label are also in the mix, unfettered by a sales cap or the need to present an exemption certificate at checkout.
