
Following a noise complaint in Roxbury, police detained three individuals, all aged 17, on various firearms charges after responding to a call about a loud party on Mount Pleasant Avenue. The Boston Police Department reported that the incident began Wednesday evening, when officers arrived at the scene to find a crowd of around fifty people and a large traffic cone blocking the street. While approaching the gathering, officers noted a suspect in black clothing attempting to distance himself and subsequently apprehended him, finding a Glock 45 with a chambered round and a high-capacity magazine on his person.
The teenager now faces multiple charges, including carrying a firearm without a license and assault and battery on a police officer. Boston Police later shared details of the event, noting that a second encounter took place earlier today, when two other youths were observed sprinting and clutching their waistbands near the site of the earlier disturbance, they attempted to evade police by ducking into an alley but were quickly detained by officers, who discovered two additional firearms including a ghost gun and a Taurus GC3, both with rounds in the chamber and ammunition in their magazines. The pair are also expected to stand trial on similar weapons and trespassing charges in accordance with juvenile court proceedings.
"At about 9:17 PM, officers responded to the area of 39 Mount Pleasant Avenue for a report of a loud party," as the official statement detailed. Subsequent to the initial arrest, at about 12:41 AM, additional units were called to manage the dispersing crowd when the two other individuals made their ill-fated flight attempt.
All firearms were recovered and secured at the scene, and detectives are said to be continuing the investigation into the matter the firearms in question are undergoing further analysis by authorities, these incidents have raised concern amongst community members about the prevalence of youth involvement in firearm offenses and the impact on neighborhood safety. Each suspect's arraignment will be conducted at Boston Juvenile Court, where they will answer to the charges stemming from the incidents on Mount Pleasant Avenue.
