Three teenagers were injured during a shootout at a prom after-party in Davenport, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office (PCSO). The incident occurred early yesterday morning on Famagusta Drive where deputies responded to 911 calls around 3:38 a.m. Witnesses reported a fight broke out among a group of males, which escalated to gunfire. As deputies arrived, they witnessed several individuals fleeing the site both by car and on foot, reported WFLA.

At the scene, a chaotic tableau presented itself with deputies estimating the presence of over 100 individuals and several vehicles. In the ensuing panic after the shooting began, some partygoers did not appear to want to cooperate with the investigation, scattering instead of ascertaining assistance or providing statements to law enforcement, as per officials cited by FOX 13 News.

Authorities identified three victims who all sustained non-life-threatening injuries. According to PCSO, a 17-year-old girl suffered a graze wound to her forehead, an 18-year-old male was grazed on the shoulder and forehead, and a 17-year-old male had non-bullet-related debris in his eye. The injured parties reported they were sitting in a parked car when they heard the argument escalating before the shots were fired. Officials stated that the victims, all Osceola High School students, were not believed to be the intended targets and are likely victims of the crossfire. The principal of Osceola High School confirmed the students' identities, stating, "First and foremost, our hearts and thoughts are with the students and families involved. I am extremely thankful that all three students survived," as FOX 13 News quoted.

After being originally shut down in Osceola County, relocating teenagers congregated at a Wawa on Osceola Polk Line Road. Once asked to disperse by a store clerk who was calling law enforcement, the crowd moved to the condo parking lot on Famagusta Drive. The teens then began amplifying loud music from their vehicles and blocking roads, as narrated to FOX 13 News.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office is continuing their investigation into the shooting. They have not released any information regarding suspects at this time. The community is urged to come forward with any information regarding the incident. PCSO can be contacted at 863-298-6200 or Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-888-400-8477 for those looking to remain anonymous, as stated by ABC Action News.
