Two suspects have been arrested in Akron for the armed robbery of a postal carrier, according to Cleveland19. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening around 6:30 p.m. and involved the theft of a coveted arrow key – a master key that grants access to a myriad of postal service boxes and facilities.
The Akron Police Department reports that Aarynn Rodgers, 18, donned a ski mask and brandished a gun to intimidate the postal worker on the 700 block of Cordova Avenue. His accomplice, Dennis Harris, 20, is believed to have piloted the escape vehicle. A public tip led to the rapid location of the suspects at a nearby apartment complex, where both were apprehended after a chase on foot, shared by WKYC.
Currently held at the Summit County Jail, the accused faces serious charges. Rodgers has been hit with an aggravated robbery count alongside another for carrying a concealed weapon. A judge has set his bond at $100,000. Harris, facing a similar robbery charge and an additional count for obstructing official business, has his bond set at a lower $25,000. According to cleveland.com, the pair is scheduled for a grand jury appearance in the upcoming weeks.
