The city of Chicago witnessed another dark day in its history following a shooting on Monday, which claimed two lives inside a local business establishment. According to ABC 7 Chicago, the incident occurred near East 111th and South State streets in the Roseland neighborhood shortly after 4 p.m.

During the altercation that preceded the violence, one of the men, 34-year-old Monte Potts, was fatally shot in the back. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office later identified the deceased, Potts, a resident of Chicago. The other victim, Dexter Williams, 38, sustained critical injuries to his head and forearm. He was rushed in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where, regrettably, he succumbed to his injuries at 1:41 p.m. the following day, as reported by the Chicago Sun-Times.

Chicago Police were on hand at the scene of the crime and apprehended the suspected shooter, who was also taken to Roseland Hospital in what was described as good condition, with injuries to his body. The nature and extent of the suspect's injuries have not been detailed. No charges have been filed as of yet, but the investigation by CPD Area Two detectives continues.
