Two men have been indicted in connection to a deadly shooting that claimed the life of one individual and left another wounded on the night of February 26 at a Dulcimer Street residence. The Houston Police Department has identified the suspects as Jordan T. Smith, 32, and Desmore Letre Modlist, 27. Smith faces charges of capital murder, while Modlist is charged with capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, as detailed in an official press release from the City of Houston.
The victim of the fatal shooting has been named as Craig Johnson, 37. The other victim, who is 32 years old, survived his injuries and is expected to make a recovery. According to the City of Houston, the incident unfolded when two assailants confronted one of the victims outside their home, demanding entry. Once inside, the suspects fired multiple rounds, striking both residents. The suspects then fled the scene in a dark SUV. HPD officers responded to the incident at approximately 11:25 p.m., where they found the victims inside the home.
Investigators later identified Smith and Modlist as the suspects involved in this violent act. Smith was apprehended by law enforcement on April 17, while Modlist was taken into custody on May 27. The arrest of Modlist came as a result of continuous efforts by the HPD Homicide Division’s Sergeant C. Duncan and Detective D. Hobson, as stated by the City of Houston.
