Pittsburgh's Baum Boulevard became the site of an unfortunate encounter between a city work truck and two pedestrians yesterday afternoon, the city's public safety department reports. At around 1:30 pm, Pittsburgh Police and EMS units rushed to the 5600 block of the boulevard following a collision involving a vehicle and two pedestrians.
According to a statement on the City of Pittsburgh's official website, the work truck cleared the roadway when it struck the pedestrians while reversing. Neither of them participated in the Pittsburgh Marathon.
Though the incident occurred along the marathon's course, runners had moved through the area by that time, and the route was closed to standard traffic. The truck driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police investigators. As of now, no charges have been filed against the truck driver, and the identities of those involved have not been released to the public.
