The U.S. Marshals-led Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) has been on a roll, with three homicide suspects now in custody over the course of three days, marking a significant uptick in the capture of wanted individuals. According to a press release from the U.S. Marshals Service, Jaylin Tyler, Anthony Ortiz, and Quinterious Parker were apprehended on separate occasions, each tied to grave and violent offenses.
Jaylin Tyler, implicated in the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Derrick Rogers at the Boulder Creek Apartments in Toledo, was nabbed on Tuesday. Equally grim, Ortiz was wanted for his involvement in a case involving a burnt-out vehicle with a deceased body inside, which unfolded in Cleveland last September. He was arrested on Wednesday. Parker's arrest on May 8th was connected to the murder of Frenicka Craig, 28, in Mobile, Alabama, earlier in April. The U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Ohio, Pete Elliott, encapsulated the task force's relentless stride, stating, “Each and every day, members of our task force pursue wanted, dangerous fugitives."
The arrests were a mix of investigative diligence and directed force. Tyler was apprehended at a Toledo residence, Ortiz in Maple Heights, Ohio, and Parker at a Milan, Ohio, hotel. These back-to-back apprehensions underscore the NOVFTF's reach and determination in tracking down and arresting suspects wanted for particularly violent crimes across not just a city but multiple states.
