
Early morning gunfire in Pittsburgh's Hill District left one vehicle riddled with bullets, as reported by the Pittsburgh Police Department. Officers dispatched from Zone 2 responded to a ShotSpotter alert indicating seven rounds fired on the 2300 block of Centre Avenue. The alert came hours before a woman reported the gunfire had struck her vehicle.
Despite the automated gunfire detection system's early warning, police were initially unable to find any victims or a crime scene. However, it was upon the victim's later report that the true impact of the incident began to unravel slowly. The unidentified woman sustained only minor injuries, caused by shattered glass. Still, she decided not to seek medical attention.
The Mobile Crime Unit was tasked to gather evidence from the damaged vehicle meticulously. According to the City of Pittsburgh's official report, the investigation into this violent event remains active, as investigators work to piece together the circumstances that led to the shooting and to identify those responsible for the gunfire.
No arrests have been made in connection with the incident, as the search for suspects and answers continues to unfold actively.
