A dispute over a taco order escalated when a Ventura County man brandished what looked to be a firearm at a vendor near Ojai, leading to his arrest. According to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, on the night of May 9, Javier Soriano Cassarubias, 24, became involved in an altercation stemming from his dissatisfaction with his food which promptly resulted in him purportedly pulling out a gun at the taco stand located on the 500 block of North Ventura Avenue in Oak View.
The suspect then fled the scene in a gray sedan, as reported by Nixle. Deputies, subsequently identifying Soriano as the vehicle's registered owner, arrested him nearly 12 hours later on the 200 block of East Oak View Avenue. During the arrest and near where Soriano was apprehended by the authorities, deputies found a replica firearm aligning with the weapon's description from the prior evening's incident.
Further details from KTLA indicate that Soriano faces charges for brandishing a replica firearm and making criminal threats. He was released on a $20,000 bond on May 11 and is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on Friday.
In related information, the Ventura County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for details leading to an arrest and criminal complaint against the persons responsible for this crime. As urged by Sergeant Gunnar Dike in a statement, community members with knowledge about the incident may call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477) and can remain anonymous without their call being recorded.
