Wake Forest is preparing for a brief shutdown of public services in observance of Memorial Day, as the town announced that its Town Hall and other administrative offices will be closed on May 26. According to the announcement, locals should note that not only will government processes pause for the day, but curbside trash and recycling collection will not take place, nor will the Wake Forest-Raleigh Express operate.

Residents relying on public transit will be glad to hear that Go Wake Forest will stick to its normal schedule, meaning buses will run from 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on the holiday. As for sanitation, all collections typically scheduled for Monday will instead take place on Tuesday, with the pattern continuing throughout the week and Friday’s route shifted to Saturday.

Yard waste services will resume on May 27 at 7 a.m. According to the service alteration, crews will catch up by starting with Monday's route and continuing through the rest of the week. Homeowners are asked to set out their yard waste by the curb at 7 a.m. sharp on Tuesday and ensure that mailboxes, utility boxes, or similar fixtures are not obstructed.

Bulk waste collection is set to resume on May 28 and may extend through May 31. Residents wishing to schedule a bulk pick-up can fill out the necessary form online by 2 p.m. on May 26, or, for those without internet, call 919-435-9570 by 3:30 p.m. on May 23, providing all required details.
