West Houston is set to welcome a new beer garden as part of the Ashford Yard redevelopment project. According to KHOU, hospitality veteran Steven Salazar has inked a deal for an expansive space at the former Schlumberger campus, transforming it into a modern beer lover's retreat scheduled to open in 2026.

Envisioned to be a cornerstone of the fresh mixed-use development, the Ashford Beer Garden at 1325 S. Dairy Ashford will boast 10,000 square feet of indoor lounging spots and a sprawling 11,000-square-foot patio that will be shaded by mature oak trees - promising residents a relaxed natural canopy amidst Houston's urban sprawl. On this patio having a 20-foot TV screen, patrons will be able to enjoy live sports and special events, stated in a press release obtained by KHOU.

The beer garden, which is one of the initial tenants for Ashford Yard, mirrors the approach taken by Salazar at the Katy Beer Garden, focusing on a family-friendly environment catering to a variety of social gatherings. As reported by the Houston Chronicle, Ashford Beer Garden will feature an extensive selection, including 100 beer taps, a 100-bottle wine list, and a spirit collection to match.

During happy hour, Steven Salazar mentioned that Ashford Beer Garden "will combine the charm of Munich's beloved Bavarian beer gardens with our own unique Texas hospitality," promising an unparalleled beer garden experience in Houston according to a statement obtained by the Houston Chronicle. The design is influenced by Salazar's previous ventures, and it promises to draw crowds with a cocktail lounge inspired by his former concept, Diversion. Alex Tolentino, who worked with Salazar at Pitch 25, will join the project as a managing partner, ensuring the experience is poured with years of hospitality expertise.

The Ashford Yard development by Market Square Companies & Tenon Property Company marks a significant transformation, converting the old office space that belonged to Schlumberger into a 12.7-acre destination featuring not just the beer garden but also retail spaces and apartments, drawing comparisons to a mini version of CityCentre. With its planned opening in the spring of 2026, residents and visitors alike can anticipate a new hotspot for socializing and sipping in West Houston.
