
In West Sacramento, a potentially deadly conflict was intercepted by police detectives, leading to the arrest of two individuals and confiscation of two handguns. According to a Facebook post by the West Sacramento Police Department, the incident occurred near the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and West Capitol Avenue.
The episode unfolded when two plainclothes detectives observed an altercation among several individuals. During the confrontation, "one of the suspects retrieved a firearm from her bag," as per the West Sacramento Police Department. The detectives stepped in immediately in attempts to avert a shooting. An individual who "approached the detectives and refused to comply with their lawful commands" was subdued after what the post describes as a "brief scuffle," though not before escalating the situation.
After backup arrived, a second firearm was secured from another person at the scene. The outcome of the law enforcement intervention: Two suspects booked into Yolo County Jail and one transported for medical evaluation. Highlighted by the West Sacramento Police Department was the importance of the detectives' quick intervention which "ensured that this situation was resolved safely, and removed two firearms from the streets."
