The White Settlement community experienced a surge of excitement as the White Settlement Police Department hosted its second annual TOUCH A TRUCK event. Despite the sticky blanket of humidity that clung to the day, the event brought an educational yet entertaining day to children and teens. It illustrated once again how outreach initiatives can foster positive interactions between residents and various facets of the civic body.
In a post by the White Settlement Polcie Department's Facebook page, officials recounted the event's success, citing their partnership with military personnel from the 90th Aviation Support Battalion, NAS JRB Fort Worth, Lockheed Martin, and notable entities including the White Settlement Fire Department, City of White Settlement, Medstar, White Settlement ISD, as well as various private companies like towing operations and Amazon.
The police department revealed a new attraction for the younger attendees, a "mini-police ride," which, according to their social media, was a major hit with the kids. This interactive component of TOUCH A TRUCK captured the imagination of White Settlement's youngest citizens and gave them a tangible connection to the local law enforcement. The event didn't just offer up-close views of military trucks and commercial vehicles— it provided a platform for first responders, city officials, and military personnel to engage directly with the community, creating a space where curiosity could be satiated and where the lines between the civilian and the uniformed could blur into understanding and respect.
