The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is inviting applications for funding from organizations that support ATV and UTV safety and education. Up to $316,464 per year is available for two years, with the application deadline set for May 31.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources website, eligible applicants must be non-stock organizations in good standing with the Secretary of State and have an active board of directors, primarily made up of ATV/UTV club members. Applicants must also submit a detailed business plan outlining their approach to promoting safe and legal ATV/UTV use, while also considering environmental compliance.
Funding can be used to support the recruitment and training of volunteer safety instructors, promote community outreach in partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Tourism, and develop safety education programs. The goal is to encourage responsible ATV/UTV use and support local economies through tourism.
The program also includes the training and coordination of volunteer trail patrol ambassadors who monitor public trail use. Successful applicants are expected to collaborate with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Department of Tourism, ATV/UTV dealers, manufacturers, recreation groups, and off-highway motorcycle clubs. Organizations receiving funding must provide documentation showing that their program objectives have been met.
