An early morning crash in Fort Collins led authorities to investigate a significant collision involving a car and a stationary semi-truck. According to the City of Fort Collins, Fort Collins Police Services (FCPS) responded to the scene at around 1:36 a.m. near the intersection of Technology Parkway and Precision Drive after an adult female driving an Audi SUV smashed into a parked semi-truck and trailer.
The impact left the woman trapped in the mangled vehicle. First responders worked to extricate her, she was subsequently transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The semi, which was unoccupied at the time of the incident, also suffered considerable damage. "We urge all drivers to remain vigilant and focused when operating a vehicle," Sgt. David Lindsay, who oversees the CRASH team, told the City of Fort Collins.
In the wake of the accident, FCPS's Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling (CRASH) Team has taken the lead in the investigation. They are looking into the cause of the accident, with early indicators suggesting that excessive speed played a role. The team is also assessing whether driver impairment might have contributed to the crash.
The aftermath of the collision forced the closure of Precision Drive for several hours as police processed the accident site. While the road has since reopened, the investigation by the CRASH team continues. They are calling on anyone with information regarding the crash to contact Officer Kevin Alexander at (970) 221-6540," according to the City of Fort Collins.
