
An early morning shooting in East Detroit resulted in tragic outcomes Tuesday, leaving one woman dead and a man hospitalized. Police were alerted to the incident by ShotSpotter technology in the area of Pinewood and Schoenherr just before the 4 a.m. mark, as detailed by FOX 2 Detroit. Detroit Police Captain John Stewart, who is overseeing the investigation, reported that a man emerged from the home and stated he had been shot. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition.
Inside the residence, having been alerted by the sounds captured by ShotSpotter, officers discovered a female victim in her 20s who had succumbed to gunshot wounds. The identity of the woman and the nature of her relationship, if any, to the injured man have not been disclosed, as noted in a statement obtained by FOX 2 Detroit. Multiple gunshots were heard, with shell casings located inside and outside the home, suggesting a violent outbreak occurred there.
The incident, which took place near Pinewood and Gratiot, led to multiple vehicles fleeing the scene shortly after the shooting occurred, according to a report by CBS News Detroit. As of the latest updates, no arrests have been made, and the authorities are calling for any witnesses or anyone with information about the disturbance and shooting to get in touch with Detroit's homicide department or to provide anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 1-800-SPEAKUP.
As per CBS News Detroit, Captain Stewart elucidated that the man came out of the home after arriving in the area, shot, and claimed that while suspects were seen fleeing in cars, no descriptions or further information on them were available at this time. Despite the ongoing search for the suspect or suspects involved, the Detroit police do not believe that there is any immediate danger to the public, as Audacy reported.
