A high-profile cannabis store in West Hollywood, co-owned by celebrities Woody Harrelson and Bill Maher, fell victim to a smash-and-grab burglary on Saturday, as reported by the WeHo Times. Known as The Woods WeHo, the establishment on Santa Monica Boulevard was broken into around 4:30 a.m., with video evidence unveiled on social media showing the culprits shattering glass to pilfer merchandise.
Entrepreneur Elliot Lewis took to Instagram to share the footage, showing a group of five individuals clad in masks and hoodies exiting a vehicle shortly before committing the act, and in what became a similar scene the following night at another dispensary, ERBA in Santa Monica the same crew orchestrated a comparable heist but were met with gunfire from a security guard, their escape promptly thereafter neither articles confirmed whether any injuries were sustained in these incidences. "Shots fired, shots fired, shots fired. That’s the only way to defend what’s yours in the city of L.A.," Lewis can be heard saying in the video from the first incident.
Opened in 2022, The Woods WeHo, which Harrelson and Maher co-own along with tennis great John McEnroe and two other partners, stands as a mainstay in what's described on its website as a provider of "a lush design and an unparalleled customer service experience," offering "premium organic, outdoor-grown California cannabis alongside your other favorites." In the wake of the incident, Lewis expressed his sympathy, writing, "Our hearts go out to Samba and Woody and their entire crew," FOX 11 reported. "Make it make sense. Please bring back some common sense."
