Wright County travelers, get ready for some road work starting next month. The Highway Department has announced it will kick off the 2025 pavement preservation projects on approximately 16 miles of county highways starting June 2. Key roads in the plan include CSAH 12 running from Hwy 12 in Montrose to the Crow River, CSAH 6 from the south county line to Hwy 12 in Howard Lake, and southward stretches of CSAH 21 and CSAH 1 near Cokato. According to the official Wright County announcement, there's set to be a mix of milling, reclaiming, and repaving work.

The specifics of the project entail removing the existing bituminous surface and applying new layers of bituminous mixtures. Shoulders along the roads will also be reworked, lined with fresh material to secure the edges, and new road markings will be painted down. For the most part, roads will remain open during the construction period, although minor delays are expected. Traffic in the affected zones will be controlled by flaggers to keep cars moving. Pavement removal along CSAH 6 and CSAH 12 is slated to start with the whole operation.

An important note for Montrose residents, there will be a short-term closure of CSAH 12 due to a sanitary sewer repair by the City of Montrose. This closure, near 2nd Street, will happen during the weeks of June 2 and June 9, necessitating a detour. Work on CSAH 21 and CSAH 1 is, for now, projected to take place later in the fall season.

Knife River Corp. – North Central of Sauk Rapids has been named as the prime contractor spearheading these projects. If you've got questions or are in need of further details concerning the upcoming roadwork, Construction Engineer Matt Messerly can be reached at 651-627-4386 or via email at [email protected], between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. The Highway Department thanks community members in advance for their patience as they work to improve the county's highways.
