
On Monday, a mountain lion was euthanized after entering a residential area in Yuba County. The animal killed four domestic goats on a property that also has an in-home daycare near Camptonville Elementary School, as reported by the Yuba County Sheriff's Department.
The mountain lion returned to Cleveland Avenue after the homeowner tried to push it away. U.S. Department of Agriculture Wildlife Services and Yuba Sheriff's deputies located the mountain lion and determined the risk to public safety was high. The Yuba County Sheriff's Department stated, "the animal was euthanized."
According to the Yuba County Sheriff's Department on their Facebook page, residents are reminded to report any dangerous wildlife encounters after a mountain lion was involved in an incident near a community. The mountain lion, which had killed several goats, was removed to protect public safety, especially for children. Residents are advised to stay alert and report any sightings of wild animals.
