The City of Yukon is set to begin its search for a new city manager following Mike Castro's resignation announcement, as documented in a city statement published early today. Castro, who has been commended for his commitment to reform and transparency, will be officially stepping down after the completion of the city’s annual budget.
Castro's tenure was notably influenced by the findings of the North American Forensic Accounting audit, which he responded to swiftly and effectively. The city acted quickly to adopt the recommended municipal changes, a crucial decision that Castro had a hand in making. "Mike stepped into this role during a time of critical transition," Mayor Brian Pillmore reflected in a statement obtained by the City of Yukon. "His steady leadership and unflinching commitment to reform have made a lasting impact on our City."
Having served over three decades in municipal administration, Castro’s vast experience and dedication have been significant assets to City Hall and the community at large. He is noted for his instrumental role in restoring public trust and maintaining a transparent environment within the government.
Vice Mayor Jeff Wootton spoke on the challenges faced by Castro, remarking, "This has been a challenging season for our City, and Mike met it head-on." Castro's efforts, while critical, seem to just have begun laying the groundwork for the City’s long-term economic projects, the full outcomes of which are yet to be realized due to his departure.
