
A tragic collision in Sherman Oaks resulted in the death of a 12-year-old boy on Wednesday morning. The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that at 10:17 a.m. a vehicle had struck a parked moving truck in the 4000 block of N Woodman Avenue. The boy, who was seated in the front passenger seat at the time of the impact, was pronounced dead at the scene. CBS Los Angeles covered the incident shortly after it occurred.
There were two other passengers in the vehicle, a woman and a 10-year-old boy, who were quickly transported to a nearby hospital following standard procedures in the event of a traffic fatality. The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed that "they did not have any apparent injuries." It remains unclear why a third person was taken to the hospital, as their medical issue was reportedly not related to the collision. The area where the collision took place was enclosed by authorities as they conducted their investigation. The LAPD, alongside a Crisis Management team, were present on the scene to provide assistance to the affected family. Those with information about the crash were directed to reference LAPD Inc# 1595.
Pending the results of the ongoing investigation, no more information has been made available to the public. In a statement provided by the LAFD, "All media queries are referred to the LAPD Inc# 1595 for the investigation."
