
A 14-year-old boy has died from a gunshot wound to the head in Queens, in what police believe may have been an accidental shooting. The teen was found inside an apartment at the Norman Towers complex, located at 90-14 161 Street in Jamaica, according to the Gothamist. Authorities responded to the scene around 5 p.m. yesterday after receiving a 911 call.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the teenager with the fatal injury and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) workers pronounced him dead at the scene, while the police stated that the firearm involved was recovered, and although their early findings suggest the wound was self-inflicted however details surrounding the incident have yet to be fully disclosed as the investigation progresses, ABC 7 New York reports detail the ongoing nature of the investigation.
The incident comes shortly after another case in the city, where a 17-year-old boy was fatally shot during a water gun fight at Starlight Park in the Bronx, as authorities continue to address issues involving youth and firearms.
