An 18-year-old has been arrested in connection with a double homicide in Elk Grove that took place early Wednesday morning, authorities confirmed. The Elk Grove Police Department reported that officers responded to a call about a shooting in the 8200 block of Triplefin Way at around 5:35 a.m., where they discovered two males, aged 51 and 19, dead at the scene. In an update provided by the Elk Grove Police, the suspect, Noah Battaglia, was apprehended two hours after the crime and is now facing two counts of homicide. The incident appears to have sprung from a domestic dispute, authorities said.
Initial reports from the scene conveyed that the nature of the shooting was unclear, prompting an investigation to determine the circumstances leading up to the fatal event. The normally tranquil neighborhood found its morning peace shattered by the violence, leading to unease among residents over their security. The Elk Grove Police have since shed light on the situation, pointing to an argument within the family as the catalyst for the confrontation. According to a statement obtained by Elk Grove Police, soon after the shooting, Battaglia left the residence only to be located, later, at a house in South Sacramento.
The identities of the deceased have yet to be publicly disclosed, pending confirmation from the Sacramento County Coroner's Office. As the community comes to terms with the violent disruption within its folds, law enforcement continues its quest for clarity, combing through the details of what turned a family argument into a deadly altercation. Police are urging anyone with additional information about the homicide to come forward and assist with their investigation.
